Hyderabad, Sept. 29: A 34-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend at an OYO lodge in Ameerpet after a dispute over marriage, police said.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Ausalapalli Srinivas, allegedly fled the lodge after paying the bill in the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident took place at Gokul Pride OYO Lodge under the SR Nagar police station limits. Police identified the deceased as Begari Shirisha (34), a native of Dharur mandal in Vikarabad district.
According to police, Shirisha and Srinivas, a resident of Tandur mandal, had known each other for some time. Shirisha worked at a customer care centre in Hyderabad and had been divorced in 2016.
Police said Srinivas (38) had allegedly been assuring her that he would marry her. The two checked into the lodge on September 24 and stayed in Room 103 on the first floor.
They allegedly used Aadhaar cards bearing the names Ganesh and Durga to rent the room, police said. Investigators also found that Srinivas had a previous criminal history.
Ameerpet Lodge Murder Under Police Investigation
Police suspect that the couple argued over marriage on Monday night. During the dispute, Srinivas allegedly assaulted Shirisha, resulting in her death.
At around 3:30 am on Tuesday, Srinivas reportedly left the room after paying the bill at the reception. He allegedly told the lodge staff that Shirisha would check out at around 9 am before leaving the premises.
When the woman did not open the room for several hours, lodge employees became suspicious and alerted the police through Dial 100.
Police reached the lodge and opened the room using an alternative key. They found Shirisha dead on the bed.
Based on a complaint from the deceased woman’s brother, SR Nagar police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police teams are searching for Srinivas, who remains absconding, according to the report.
Investigators are examining the lodge records, the identity documents used to obtain the room and other available evidence as part of the probe.
