Tamilisai Sworn In As Telangana Governor
Hyderabad, Sept.8 (Maxim News): Tamilisai Soundararajan took oath as the new Governor of Telangana on Sunday. High Court Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan administered oath of office to her at a simple ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan at 11 am. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, his cabinet colleagues, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy and other senior officials were present.
The oath of office was administered after Chief Secretary SK Joshi read out warrant of appointment issued by President Ram Nath Kovind appointing Soundararajan as Telangana Governor. The Chief Minister and the Chief Justice greeted her with bouquets. Several BJP leaders, including Himachal Pradesh Governor-designate Bandaru Dattatraya, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy were among those present at the swearing-in ceremony. State ministers, MPs, MLAs, Speaker and among others were also present. Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam was among several Tamil Nadu leaders, were also present.
Tamilisai Soundararajan, a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, is the second Governor of Telangana State. She succeeded E.S.L. Narasimhan, served as Governor of undivided Andhra Pradesh and also as Governor of both Telugu States for nearly a decade.
Earlier, Tamilisai Soundararajan got a grand welcome from CM KCR, Speaker P Srinivas Reddy, ministers and officials at Begumpet Airport. She came from Chennai to Shamshabad Airport and took a special helicopter to Begumpet Airport. She received ceremonial salute from the police and reached the Raj Bhavan. (Maxim News)
