ABVP Bandh | Hyderabad, June 23: Several private and corporate schools in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana declared a holiday on Tuesday in view of the statewide bandh call given by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad over education-related issues.
School managements announced the holiday as a precautionary step to avoid inconvenience to students, parents and staff. The bandh call comes amid protests over private school fee structures, uniform policies, poor infrastructure in government schools and concerns over the proposed closure or merger of some government schools.
ABVP and other education groups have raised objections to rising education costs in private institutions. They have flagged high tuition fees, extra charges and costly uniform policies as major burdens on parents. At the same time, they have also demanded better conditions in government schools.

Protest organisers said many government schools still lack proper classrooms, sanitation facilities and teaching resources. They argued that these gaps continue to affect students, especially in rural areas and low-income communities.
Another key issue in the protest is the reported closure or merger of certain government schools. Education groups said such steps could hurt access to schooling for children from economically weaker sections and remote areas.
The bandh is expected to affect educational institutions the most, especially schools. However, colleges, offices and most commercial establishments are likely to function as usual unless local authorities issue separate directions.
Public transport services, including buses, are also expected to operate normally. So far, no major disruption to regular services has been officially announced.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police have made security arrangements in view of the bandh and are monitoring the situation closely. Parents have been advised to check directly with school managements for updates on classes, examinations and transport services, as some institutions may stay open depending on local conditions.
