Azharuddin reviews Waqf | Hyderabad, Nov. 13: Minister for Minorities Affairs Mohammed Azharuddin chaired his first review meeting on the Telangana Waqf Board’s functioning at the Secretariat here on Thursday.
Focusing on property protection, administrative reforms, and measures to strengthen the board.
The Minister was joined by B. Shafiullah, IFS, Secretary to Government, Minorities Welfare Department,Telangana Waqf Board CEO Mohammed Asadullah, and other senior officials for a status briefing and next-step planning.

Azharuddin held a detailed discussion on Umeed portal registration, covering progress, bottlenecks, and capacity-building for field teams and custodians.
Minister Azharuddin underscored the need for accurate digitisation of records, consistent uploads, and timely verification to ensure a complete and credible database of Waqf assets.

Umeed portal progress and gaps | CM seeks one-year extension
The Minister noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is taking a keen interest in Waqf affairs and has already requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend the Umeed portal deadline by one year to enable comprehensive, error-free registrations across Telangana.
Azharuddin said the extension would help address technical issues, retrieval of legacy records, and training needs for stakeholders.
Action plan for property protection
Officials also reviewed grievance redressal, compliance audits, and inter-department coordination to speed up dispute resolution and improve transparency.
Action points included prioritising sensitive properties, strengthening monitoring dashboards, and issuing clear SOPs for documentation and field verification.
