Bandi expresses anger over midday meal suspension

Hyderabad, Dec.20 (Maxim News): State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today expressed his anger over the suspension of midday meal scheme in state government schools . He alleged that there was no response from the state government for the demand of the midday meal workers to increase their monthly honorariums although the demand has been made since the last couple of years . He claimed that the strike by the midday meal workers would deprive 20 lakh students of the state from their midday meals.

Referring to the statement of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that the students of the government schools are eating the same rice like his family members, he asked the CM if he would support the fact that the students would now have to stay hungry due to the strike by the midday meal workers . He demanded the state government to immediately solve the midday meal workers and pay the honorariums as per the existing labour laws . He claimed that the state government was paying the lowest amount of honorariums to the midday meal workers when compared to the other states of the country.

He also claimed that the central government was paying the cost of food and transportation for the implementation of the midday meal scheme besides paying the 60 percent of the total honorariums to the workers. (Maxim News)
