Hyderabad, Sept. 9 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Crime Branch police arrested a man accused of stealing gold jewellery from a liquor trader’s house in Banjara Hills.
Police identified the suspect as Gouresh. They arrested him while he was reportedly playing at a casino in Goa.
The police recovered gold jewellery and cash from his possession. A Crime Branch team later brought him to Hyderabad for further investigation.
The theft occurred four days ago at the businessman’s house in Banjara Hills. The thief allegedly took around 10 tolas of gold jewellery from the residence.
The businessman approached the police after discovering the theft. Police registered a case and began investigating the incident.
Investigators examined CCTV footage from the areas surrounding the house. They also monitored the movements of people with previous criminal records.
During the investigation, police noticed a suspect with a visible injury mark above his eyebrow. CCTV footage helped investigators identify the man.
Police later identified him as Gouresh and linked him to the theft. They also found that he had previously faced an alleged theft case in Madhapur.
Police Track Suspect From Hyderabad To Goa
According to police, Gouresh comes from Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam district. He reportedly worked as a junior artist and lived in Indira Nagar, Banjara Hills.
Police said he allegedly committed thefts in search of easy money. Investigators also found that he had sold part of the stolen gold.
Police said Gouresh used the money from the sale to travel by flight to Goa. Officers then tracked him down and arrested him at a casino.
The recovery of gold jewellery and cash forms an important part of the investigation. Police are now examining whether the suspect has links to other theft cases.
Investigators are also expected to establish the full sequence of events surrounding the Banjara Hills theft. They will examine the recovered property and other evidence as part of the case.
The arrest followed a focused investigation involving CCTV analysis and surveillance of known offenders. Police used the footage to narrow their search and identify the suspect.
The case highlights the role of CCTV networks in investigating residential thefts in Hyderabad. Police routinely examine footage from nearby roads and buildings when investigating such offences.
