Hyderabad, Sept. 9: A 45 year old woman was allegedly killed by a relative over long standing enmity and suspicion of sorcery in Mancherial district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Nelki Venkatapur village in Dandepally mandal around 8 pm. Police identified the deceased as Singathi Laxmi.
According to Dandepally SI Rajyavardhan, Laxmi was sitting outside her house when her husband’s cousin, Ramesh, allegedly attacked her with an axe.
Police said Laxmi suffered severe bleeding and died at the scene. Ramesh allegedly fled after the attack.
Police Launch Search for Murder Accused
Police said Ramesh and Laxmi had a long standing dispute. They said he recently blamed Laxmi for his divorce and picked an argument with her before the attack.
Laxmi’s husband Lachanna lodged a complaint with the police. Officials registered a murder case against Ramesh and launched a search to apprehend him.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and the alleged sorcery suspicion.
