Hyderabad: Bank customers across India should note a series of holidays in the last week of June 2026, with closures falling on local observances, Muharram, the fourth Saturday and Sunday.
While banks will remain open in most states on regular working days, some regions will see branch closures due to state specific holidays. Customers have been advised to plan branch visits in advance, especially for cash deposits, cheque clearance and other in person services.
On June 22, banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for Rev Thomas Jones Day. In Shillong and other parts of the state, banking operations will not be available on the occasion.
Muharram, weekend closures and regional holidays in final week of June
Banks in several cities will remain closed on June 26 for Muharram observances. The holiday will apply in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar and Vijayawada.
On June 27, banks across India will remain closed as it falls on the fourth Saturday of the month. This will be followed by the regular Sunday closure on June 28.
Regional holidays will continue after the weekend. Banks in Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, will remain closed on June 29 for Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti. On June 30, banks in Mizoram will remain shut for Remna Ni, a public holiday observed as the Day of Peace.
The holiday sequence means some states will see multiple non working days in a row depending on local observances. Customers in affected areas should check with their bank branch before visiting during the last week of June.
Even on holidays, digital banking services such as ATMs, UPI, mobile banking and internet banking will continue to function. However, branch based services including cash deposits, cheque clearance and passbook updates may not be available during bank holidays.
