Bhupalpally DTO Death: Revanth Sarkar Orders Inquiry

Bhupalpally DTO Death | Hyderabad, June 22 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has ordered an inquiry into the death of Bhupalpally District Transport Officer M. Venkanna, who died in a road accident near the RTO office in Chelpur while on duty.

The accident took place at around 9.30 am on June 22 near the RTO office in Bhupalpally district. According to the government order, a coal loaded lorry reportedly ran over Venkanna while he was performing official duties.

The government treated the incident as a serious matter. It said the inquiry will establish the exact facts and circumstances behind the accident. It will also examine whether any lapses occurred during field enforcement duty.

The Transport, Roads and Buildings Department issued the order through G.O. Rt. No. 346 dated June 22, 2026.

Bhupalpally DTO Death | Inquiry to review safety of field officers

The government appointed Joint Transport Commissioner M. Chandra Shekar Goud as the inquiry officer. He will conduct a detailed probe into the fatal accident and submit a report to the government through the Transport Commissioner.

The inquiry will not stop with the accident alone. It will also review the safety measures available to transport officers during field duty. In addition, the officer will suggest steps to prevent such incidents in future.

The government asked the inquiry officer to recommend changes in field enforcement protocols. He will also examine safety equipment and standard operating procedures used during vehicle interception and seizure operations on public roads.

Meanwhile, the government directed the Transport Commissioner to take further action based on the inquiry findings.

The order said Venkanna’s death raised serious concern because the accident happened while he was on official duty. Therefore, the government wants a detailed review of both the incident and the safety systems in place for field staff.  The order was issued by Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj. (Maxim News)
