Amaravati, July 12: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered swift repatriation of three state residents killed when a tourist boat capsized in Vietnam.
Naidu reviewed assistance for victims and directed officials to arrange prompt transport of mortal remains to their hometowns. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has appointed an agency to handle handover and transport. Officials said the process has begun.
One Andhra Pradesh resident remains hospitalised in Vietnam. Officials said Gelle Kishore is improving at a government hospital there. Meanwhile, surviving tourists will fly home on flights arranged by the mobile service provider that organised the trip.
The accident occurred near Phu Quoc Island during a leisure tour organised for distributor families. One boat carried 32 passengers and 15 people died. Three of the deceased were from Andhra Pradesh and another state resident suffered serious injuries.
Naidu asked Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi to assist until repatriation ends. He also instructed coordination with the Indian Embassy and continuous monitoring by the Real Time Governance Society. Ministers Nara Lokesh and Vangalapudi Anitha have been reviewing developments, the Chief Minister’s Office said.
