Hyderabad, March 9 (Maxim News): On a tip-off on Friday, Commissioner’s Task Force personnel of North Zone busted a cricket betting racket at Kalasiguda under Mahankali police limits in Secunderabad and arrested one cricket bookie Mahesh Upadhy while he was accepting cricket betting amount from the punters over cell phones.
For the third ODI Cricket match between India and Australia, the teams were playing at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi on March 8. He was following cricket app “Cricket exchange”, which provides online score ball-to-ball, as well as betting ratios used to collect betting amount from the punters clandestinely and gain easy money illegally.
The accused was identified as Mahesh Upadhyay, 33, residing at Kalasiguda under Mahankali police limits in Secunderabad.
The sleuths also seized betting amount of Rs 40,800, one TV Model LG, Set top box Hathway with card, one calculator model citizen, two cell phones, a note book used to note punters’ names and betting amount. The accused, along with seized property were handed over to the SHO of Mahankali PS for further investigation. (Maxim News)
