Hyderabad, Aug.11 (Maxim News): The rank and file of the Congress party today welcomed the unanimous decision of the Congress Working Committee to name Sonia Gandhi as interim president of the party. “We are confident that Sonia Gandhi would pull out all her experience for a “thorough introspection and undertake a complete overhaul and detailed restructuring at all levels of the party in tune with the CWC decision”, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, former vice-chairman, NDMA, has said.
In a statement here today, TPCC Intellectual Cell leaders, including S. Chandrasekhar, former minister, M Kodanda Reddy, National Vice-Chairman of Kisan Congress, G. Niranjan, former Chairman of AP Khadi Board and A. Shyam Mohan stated in view of the prevailing circumstances in the country, they would like to request Sonia Gandhi to fully utilize services of both Priyanka Gandhi and Vadra.
They said with the resignation of Rahul Gandhi as Congress president in May 2019 owning moral responsibility for the defeat of the party in the Lok Sabha elections, the party cadres were in a state of disarray. With the delay in naming an interim president as Rahul Gandhi’s successor, they were getting restless. “Now the impasse has ended, the cadres will gear up to make the party more effective to face the challenges before us”, they added.
