- Eatala Rajender criticises Revanth Reddy land pooling
- Koheda farmers protest over land rights and compensation
Hyderabad, March 23: BJP MP Eatala Rajender criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over land pooling policies during a protest in Koheda village. He accused the government of continuing policies introduced by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, which he described as harmful to poor farmers.
Rajender said the policies are affecting farmers from SC, ST, and BC communities. These families have cultivated assigned lands for generations. He stated that earlier governments had conducted inquiries and issued pattas to them. Therefore, he argued that their right to use the land is permanent, even if they cannot sell it.
Meanwhile, he strongly opposed the current land pooling model. He said the government is taking one acre of land and returning only 400 square yards. He called this approach “anti-poor” and “unjust.” He also warned the police not to act against protesting villagers under political pressure. He stated, “Policemen are meant to protect justice, not to suppress the poor.”
The BJP leader demanded immediate compensation for farmers affected in Shaavukaru Gutta and Koheda. He stressed that the government should hold talks with local residents instead of forcing decisions. Therefore, he urged officials to address concerns through dialogue and fair action.
Rajender also issued a political warning to the Chief Minister. He said that misuse of power could lead to consequences similar to those faced by the previous government. He stated, “If you exploit the poor, people will pull down your rule just like they did with KCR.” This remark highlighted growing political tensions over land issues.
Furthermore, he assured full support to the farmers of Koheda. He said the BJP would stand by them if justice is not delivered. He also appealed to Collector Narayana Reddy to step in and ensure compensation is provided without delay.
Later, Rajender warned of a larger movement if the issue remains unresolved. He stated, “Today I came alone, tomorrow the entire BJP will stand with the poor. If you continue to oppress, you will face the same fate as your predecessor.” The protest reflects rising concerns among farmers over land rights and government policies.
