Enourage Students On Research: Jagadish Reddy

Hyderabad, July 8 (Maxim News): Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy today expressed concern that are least bothered of research oriented course which will make the students scientists in future and serve the nation.

As the Centre and State governments are not taking any initiatives, our country is lagging behind in research and scientific development he expressed concern. India failed to clinch position under 100 rank at world level in terms of research and development. We are in British era education system and should come out of it to go towards research in our country the minister said. The national workshop should focus on bridging gap between the educational institutions and industry and business needs by focusing on research he said.

The parents prefer their children opt for either engineering or medicine like courses and ignoring those research oriented. He was participating as the chief guest at a seminar on Accreditation quality improvement and ranking in higher education at a hotel in Lakdi Ka Pool here. Teaching should develop the students to face all future challenges and become a citizen to serve the society he said. The schools and institutions should nurture the students on the social structure and development and their role in future to return to society in their capacity. Education will certainly shape the students to be good citizens who should focus on assorted type of research courses being offered by the varsities, he said.

The minister opined that the society is considering education is just to get a job and earn money for livelihood. This is not a good feeling and the parents should encourage their children to several other courses than engineering and medicine. There are several courses that will also get them jobs and research oriented courses will help serve the state and nation, the minister felt. (Maxim News)
