Alwal, June 13: A father and his teenage daughter died of electrocution while clearing rain debris outside their house in Telecom Colony, Alwal, on Saturday morning, police said.
The victims were identified as Sandeep, 44, and his daughter Rithika, 16. The family was removing tree branches that had fallen on the road after heavy overnight rain when the incident occurred.
Police suspect that snapped electricity cables had fallen onto the road. Sandeep and Rithika reportedly came into contact with the live wires and collapsed at the spot.
Sandeep’s wife also suffered burn injuries in the incident. Emergency responders reached the location after receiving information.
Police shifted the bodies to GandhiHospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the electrocution. Further details are awaited.
