Hyderabad, July 9: Food safety officials conducted surprise inspections at several restaurants in Kukatpally on Thursday and issued notices after detecting expired food items, unhygienic conditions and violations of food safety regulations.
During the inspections, officials found that Siddique Kabab Center had allegedly stored meat in violation of prescribed food safety norms.
At Sri Dwarka Restaurant, the inspection team seized expired butter and peanuts. Officials said the items had crossed their expiry date and were unfit for use.
The team also inspected Arabian Mandi Restaurant, where banned synthetic food colours were allegedly being used in food preparation, violating food safety regulations.
At a wine and dine establishment, officials found expired mushrooms during the inspection. They also noticed rats moving around the kitchen and food storage area where pulses were kept, raising serious hygiene concerns.
Following the inspections, food safety officials issued notices to the managements of the restaurants found violating food safety standards and directed them to comply with the prescribed regulations.
