Govt Committed To Uplift Fishermen, Other Professional Communities: Niranjan

Hyderabad, Aug.16 (Maxim News): The State Government was committed for economic development of fishermen and other professional communities like milk, horticulture, sericulture and others in the State, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said today. The minister was speaking after dropping fish seedlings into the lakes, tanks, reservoirs and water bodies in Wanaparty district here along with officials.

The minister said that in Wanaparty district alone 252 crore fish seedlings and shrimp were being dropped as part of the program to boost fishermen’s income. The State government supplies nets, fish seed, vehicles for the fishermen’s community and set up mini markets for their business. He asked the officials to make regular payments of royalty to the fishermen’s associations under Ranga Samudram Lake by withdrawing court cases.

Niranjan Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will soon make a tour to old Palamur district and would decide steps for expanding lakes under the projects. He the Chief Minister has planned to develop fishermen economically and was offering fish on 100 per cent subsidy. He also said some 25,000 lakes, ponds and water bodies would get abundant fish seedlings in the districts.

He said the CM asked the ministers concerned to complete the fish dropping drive in these water bodies in two weeks. “We are on the job and the lakes will get the subsidized and better quality fish seedlings and shrimp. The rains have filled the lakes, ponds and tanks and the farming activity has been intensified, he said. (Maxim News)
