Amaravati, Jan.8 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh High Court today permitted elections to the local bodies in the State. Allowing the Election Commission affidavit, the Court said the whole election process be completed by March 3.
As per the election schedule released by the State Election Commission, the notification for ZPTC and MPTC elections would be issued by January 17 and the election will be held on February 8. The results would be announced on February 10. The Mandal Parishads presidents and Zilla Parishads chairmen would be elected by February 15. Similarly, a notification for the panchayat elections would be released on February 8 and elections would be completed by March 3. In the affidavit, the Election Commission Secretary told the High Court that all local bodies’ elections would be completed by March 3.
Video conference will be held with District collectors, SPs and other officials about the preparations and arrangements to be taken for the conduct of the elections. On the same day, DGP Gautam Sawang, Chief Secretary Nilam Sawheny, Finance department and Panchayathi Raj department principal secretaries are scheduled to meet political parties on January 13. The High Court, after examining the affidavit, gave its nod for the election of local bodies.(Maxim News)
