He was appointed as HCA President through an Ombudsman order. The court delivered its verdict on June 08, 2026, while hearing a petition on the election dispute.
The issue started with the 2023 HCA elections. Allegations of irregularities came up during the polls. Petitioners also raised concerns over forged documents linked to Jagan Mohan Rao.
Galaxy Cricket Club filed a complaint in the matter. After this, Ombudsman Justice Suresh Kumar Kait declared Jagan Mohan Rao’s election invalid. The Ombudsman then appointed Amarnath as President.
Amarnath had secured 62 votes in the election. He took charge to ensure smooth functioning of HCA. The decision aimed to avoid administrative disruption.
However, Jagan Mohan Rao challenged the Ombudsman order in the Telangana High Court. He also challenged his removal from the post.
The High Court reviewed the case in detail. It ruled that the Ombudsman order does not hold legal validity. The court set aside the appointment of Amarnath as President.
The court also noted that the appointment process did not follow proper legal procedure. It said the governing rules of the association were not followed correctly.
This ruling affects the current leadership structure of HCA. The association may now need a fresh decision on its leadership.
The case also highlights ongoing disputes in HCA administration. The cricket body has faced repeated legal and governance issues in recent years.
Further action will depend on legal clarity and administrative decisions in the coming days. (Maxim News)
