Hyderabad Mobile Snatchers Arrested | Hyderabad, April 20 (Maxim News) : Kanchanbagh Police arrested three mobile phone snatching offenders and recovered 10 stolen mobile phones along with a two wheeler in a major crackdown on street crime.
The arrests came after a complaint from a 59 year old resident, Syed Nazeer Ahmed, who was robbed near DMRL X Road earlier this week.
S. Sreenivas, DCP, Rajendernagar Zone, speaking to media said that the victim had purchased a tiffin parcel from Jai Bhavani Tiffin Centre on April 15. While returning home around 9:30 am, two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached from behind and snatched his Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 phone from his shirt pocket.
Based on the complaint, Kanchanbagh Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the probe, police apprehended three accused on April 19. Officials identified them as Ambata Naresh, Banala Arun Kumar, and Mekala Chiranjeevi. Police said all three are habitual offenders involved in multiple previous theft and criminal cases, he added. Investigators recovered 10 mobile phones and one Yamaha motorcycle from their possession.
Police said the gang mainly targeted elderly people, middle aged citizens, and distracted pedestrians. One accused would approach the victim and create a diversion. Meanwhile, another member would snatch the phone, while others kept watch nearby.
