City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said special enforcement drives will be carried out on Tuesday night as part of Hyderabad Police drunk driving checks. He announced that police teams will conduct checks at 120 locations across Hyderabad. He also stated that the special drive will continue throughout the first week of January. Therefore, motorists have been advised to strictly follow traffic rules.

Meanwhile, in a post on X, Sajjanar made it clear that those caught driving under the influence of alcohol will face strict action. He said penalties will include heavy fines, seizure of vehicles, possible jail terms, and cancellation of driving licences. In addition, police will act firmly against rash driving, triple riding, and creating nuisance in public places.

Hyderabad Police Drunk Driving Checks to Continue Into January

Furthermore, the commissioner urged citizens to give priority to safety during celebrations. He advised people who have consumed alcohol to avoid driving vehicles. Instead, he encouraged them to use cabs or rely on designated drivers. According to him, responsible behaviour can prevent accidents and save lives.

Officials said Hyderabad Police drunk driving checks are part of broader efforts to maintain public order during New Year festivities. They noted that increased movement on roads and late night celebrations raise safety concerns. Therefore, sustained enforcement is necessary during this period.
