Hyderabad, Feb.28 (Maxim News): Former Minister and Senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy today filed his nomination papers from Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Medak Graduates’ MLC constituency in Karimnagar District Collectorate. Accompanied by other senior leaders of the party Jeevan Reddy went the Collectorate and submitted his papers to Karimnagar district Collector-cum-returning officer of the seat Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Addressing media persons later, Jeevan Reddy thanked party president Rahul Gandhi for giving him an opportunity to contest from the seat. He alleged that the ruling party had failed to implement the unemployment wage scheme to the youth and also fee reimbursement scheme for the poor and the needy students. He said he had decided to contest the MLC election to raise his voice about the problems of the poor people in the Legislative Council.

Meanwhile, another senior Congress leader Gudur Narayana Reddy also filed his nomination papers for the MLC seat under MLA quota. His name was announced by the party high command on Thursday. The Congress has 19 MLAs in the House and it requires support of two more MLAs to win the seat. The party is seeking the support of its alliance partner TDP to win the seat and likely to win the seat if the TDP extends support.
However, the ruling TRS party has announced that it would contest all the five MLC seats under MLA quota which will be vacant very soon. While it fielded four of its party leaders for the elections, it has left one seat for its ally MIM. (Maxim News)
