Mahabubnagar, July 8: Police have registered a case against the Principal of the Post Graduate Centre in Kollapur, Mahabubnagar district, following allegations of sexual assault and harassment made by a student.
According to the student’s complaint, Principal Mark Poloneyes allegedly called the student to his room around 10 pm on Tuesday and sexually assaulted him.
The student also alleged that the Principal had subjected him to mental and physical harassment on earlier occasions. During the incident, the student reportedly bit the Principal’s private part before escaping from the room. The accused allegedly fled the premises and remains absconding.
The complaint states that the student had visited the college on Saturday to collect his marks memo and other academic certificates. While issuing the marks memo, the Principal allegedly asked him to return on Tuesday night to collect the transfer certificate, claiming he would otherwise be unavailable.
Suspecting foul play, the student informed his friends in advance. According to reports, other students recorded videos on their mobile phones and attempted to catch the Principal after the incident, but he escaped.
The student later lodged a complaint at the Kollapur police station. He also alleged that the Principal had harassed him on previous occasions.
Following the complaint, students of the PG Centre gathered outside the police station and demanded immediate action against the accused. They also submitted a representation to Palamuru University Vice Chancellor G.N. Srinivas, seeking the Principal’s suspension and a thorough investigation.
Police have registered a case and launched efforts to trace the accused. Further investigation is underway.
