The announcement was made following a high-level review meeting chaired by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and attended by Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Friday.

During the meeting, Shabbir Ali highlighted pressing issues in local government hospitals, including the alarming state of infrastructure. He pointed out that the 750-bedded Government Hospital in Nizamabad had only one functional lift, severely hampering patient services. Responding swiftly, Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha sanctioned two additional lifts for the hospital. He also approved comprehensive renovation and upgradation works, including improvements to drainage and drinking water facilities. An overall amount of Rs 63 crore was sanctioned for hospital infrastructure, staffing, and other essential requirements in the district.

The situation in Kamareddy was equally concerning. Shabbir Ali informed the Minister that the 250-bedded Government Hospital in Kamareddy lacked a CT scan facility. Shocked by the absence of basic diagnostic infrastructure, the Minister ordered that a CT scan be made available within a week. He also sanctioned a new trauma centre to address emergency care needs.

In a major announcement, the government has approved the upgradation of the Community Health Centre at Domakonda in Kamareddy district from a 30-bed to a 50-bed facility. As per Government Order No. 137 issued by the Health, Medical & Family Welfare (I) Department on April 8, 2025, Rs 22 crore has been sanctioned for civil works and equipment. The funds will be drawn under the “Assistance to TVVP” scheme, and the order was issued with concurrence from the Finance Department.

Health Secretary Dr Christina Z. Chongthu confirmed the developments and said necessary instructions have been issued to the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) and the Telangana State Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) for immediate execution.

Shabbir Ali stated that Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha himself would soon visit the districts to inaugurate the newly sanctioned facilities and lay foundation stones for upcoming works. “This is a clear reflection of the Congress Government’s commitment to improve public healthcare infrastructure in rural and semi-urban areas,” he said.
