Hyderabad, Jan. 5 (Maxim News): The Telangana Media Academy on Monday felicitated senior journalist and Telangana statehood movement veteran Chandra Srivastava at its office in Nampally.
Media Academy chairman Srinivas Reddy presided over the programme held at Chapel Road. Former United Andhra Pradesh Press Academy chairman D Amar, senior journalists, and admirers of Chandra Srivastava attended the event.
Speakers recalled that Chandra Srivastava is the only surviving activist who raised the demand for a separate Telangana in the 1960s. They highlighted his leadership role in the Telangana movement and several major Urdu language movements in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Speakers also referred to his close associations with national and state leaders. They noted his contribution to mentoring the next generation of Urdu journalists.
Responding to the felicitation, Chandra Srivastava expressed concern over the current situation in Hyderabad, Telangana, and the country. He offered suggestions to protect the state and the city.

He also spoke about the decline in journalistic standards. He stressed the need to safeguard the dignity of the profession while preserving the sanctity of the pen.
Media Academy secretary Venkateshwar Rao proposed a vote of thanks. Chandra Srivastava is currently settled in the United States and holds a position in the Democratic Party. He is on a brief visit to Hyderabad.
