MIM Was Responsible For Backwardness Of Old City: Sohail

Congress candidate 22-Yr-old Ahmed Aslam Shareef is youngest candidate

Hyderabad, November 24 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minoritries Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Tuesday alleged that MIM was responsible for backwardness of Old City of Hyderabad as it did not allow any developmental activity.

Speaking to media persons while participating in the election campaign in Puranapul Division for Congress candidate Ahmed Aslam Shareef, who is just 22-year-old, Abullah Sohail said that the MIM leaders kept people mentally engaged on communal and irrelevant issues while ignoring the real issues that concerns their day-to-day lives. “While the entire Hyderabad transformed to a developed region in the last few decades, especially under Congress regimes, MIM leaders did not allow any kind of development or major projects in this part of the city,” he said.

Abdullah Sohail also alleged MIM was directly helping the BJP strengthen its base across the country. “MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi is not interested in expanding his party’s base. But he is helping the BJP polarise voters on the basis of religion. He is keen to contest elections in States like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal. But he is not capable of venturing out of Old City of Hyderabad and a few Muslim-dominated areas in new city. Why is MIM contesting on just 51 out of 150 divisions? If Asaduddin Owaisi can go to Bihar and West Bengal to forge alliances and convince voters, then why is not trying this in Telangana?” he asked.

The Congress leader ridiculed the claims being made by TRS and MIM leaders of their parties not having an alliance and described it as total farce. “If MIM is not having alliance with the TRS, then Asaduddin Owaisi should specify to whom his party is supporting in remaining 99 seats?” he said.

Further, Abdullah Sohail said that the BJP was hoping to win the GHMC polls by communalising the atmosphere. However, he said people would reject both BJP and MIM for the communal stand. Similarly, he said that the people would reject TRS for its corruption and misgovernance. “He said that the BJP was enacting the drama of rivalry at the instance of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao himself. If their rivalry is genuine, then why did the local police not register a case and arrest State BJP President Bandi Sanjay after he accused KCR of having links to terrorist organisations? Neither the State Election Commission, nor the State Police took any note of the objectionable and provocative comments being made by Bandi Sanjay on a frequent basis. Inaction by the authorities clearly shows that Bandi Sanjay was acting as a puppet into the hands of CM KCR and TRS-MIM-BJP trio were together trying to sabotage the prospects of Congress party in the GHMC elections,” he said.

Abdullah Sohail appealed to the people not to fall into the trap of MIM, BJP or TRS and vote in favour of Congress party to achieve development and prosperity for Hyderabad. (Maxim News)
