- Nitish Kumar set for fifth term as NDA leads in over 200 seats
- Mahagathbandhan falls behind, voter turnout sees historic high in Bihar
Patna/Hyderabad, Nov 14 (Maxim News): The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is on course for a landslide victory in Bihar, with current trends showing the alliance comfortably leading in more than 200 out of 243 assembly constituencies. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appears poised to secure a fifth consecutive term, further cementing his status as Bihar’s longest serving Chief Minister.
At 4.10 pm, the latest results indicated the NDA had outperformed its previous 2020 tally. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan could lead only in 29 seats, while the Jan Suraaj party, led by Prashant Kishore, failed to register a win in any constituency. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav leads in his Raghopur seat. Other major contenders this election include Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, JJD’s Tej Pratap, and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.
The counting of votes, which began at 8 am, has largely mirrored the predictions made by most exit polls. These polls had forecast an overwhelming victory for the NDA, of which the Janata Dal (United) is a key component. However, Tejashwi Yadav has challenged these projections, confidently stating that the Mahagathbandhan would claim a strong majority once all votes are counted.
The elections witnessed a record voter turnout of 67.13% in the two polling phases held on November 6 and 11. This surge in voter participation underlines the significance of this electoral contest in Bihar’s political landscape.
As counting continues, the dominant NDA surge is being watched closely, with attention shifting to the final numbers and the eventual government formation. The thumping lead marks a historic moment in the state, reinforcing Nitish Kumar’s hold on the chief minister’s post and highlighting the strength of the NDA alliance in Bihar.
