Pig Kidney For A Man: Record Of American Doctors
USA/Hyderabad, Aug 17 (Maxim News) There was an incident in America where doctors implanted a genetically modified pig kidney into a dead man. According to the doctors, a big kidney was implanted in the body of a 57-year-old man who was brain-dead a month ago with the permission of the family members.
As this experiment is successful, urine is being released on the second day. The doctors are happy that the organ is working well for a month. Dr. Robert Montgomery, director of the Transplant Institute of New York University, says that in the past, the pig’s kidney did not work for more than two days, but now it is working for a month at a time.
He explained that this was a key step in transplanting animal organs to humans. Last year, doctors at the University of Maryland made history by transplanting a pig’s heart to a person, but that person survived only two months. (Maxim News)
