Delhi, May 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged people to take precautions against extreme heatwave conditions affecting several parts of the country.
In a message posted on social media platform X, Modi advised citizens to stay hydrated and help others during the harsh summer conditions.
The Prime Minister said people should carry water while stepping outdoors and offer drinking water to others, adding that small acts of kindness become important during extreme weather.
Heatwave Conditions Continue Across North India
According to the India Meteorological Department, several regions, including Delhi NCR, are expected to witness severe heatwave conditions over the next two days.
Officials forecast temperatures in Delhi could touch 45 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may remain around 28 degrees Celsius.
The weather department also issued a heatwave warning and said strong hot winds are likely during afternoon and evening hours.
Authorities advised people to avoid direct sun exposure during peak daytime hours and drink sufficient water to prevent dehydration.
However, weather conditions are expected to improve from May 28 onwards with thunderstorms and rainfall likely in parts of North India.
The department predicted strong winds, lightning and light to moderate rainfall between May 28 and May 31 due to pre monsoon activity.
Meteorologists said the expected rainfall could bring significant relief from the intense summer heat across several regions.
