The breakthrough came during an investigation into an MD drug racket that began with a raid in Maharashtra earlier this year.

MBVV Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik said the Crime Detection Branch conducted a raid at a residence in the Mira Road area of Thane district on April 4. During the operation, police seized 1.324 kg of MD drugs valued at Rs 2.66 crore.

Following the raid, a case was registered against Firdos Arbaaz Qureshi and her husband Arbaaz Qureshi under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigators subsequently recovered drugs, chemicals, and laboratory equipment worth Rs 13.65 crore from multiple locations in Thane and Mumbai, including Mira Road, Agripada, Malvani, and Manori.

Police said the arrests of Sandeep Veeraswamy Naidu from Raigad district in Maharashtra and Nasir alias Baya Janimiya Rokh and Mehmood Mehbooch Khan from Hyderabad helped investigators trace a drug manufacturing facility operating on a two acre farmhouse at Pichargadi Tanda in Zaheerabad.

According to ACP (Crime) Madan Ballal, the raid at the Telangana unit led to the seizure of 3 kg of MD drugs and 2,293 litres of chemicals, including chloroform, acetone, monomethylamine, hydrochloric acid, and 2 Bromo. The seized materials and raw substances were valued at Rs 6.22 crore.

Police said the illegal facility was allegedly being used for the manufacture of synthetic narcotic substances. Further investigation is underway to identify additional links in the network and determine the full extent of the operation. Authorities confirmed that 18 accused have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
