Registration Of Exotic Live Animals With Chief Wildlife Warden

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (Maxim News): Large number of Exotic live animals are kept as pet animals by various individuals, Organization, Institutions, Resort owners etc. Apart from this, there are instances of individuals, shops, business houses, breeding exotic live animals and selling them in the market.

Since, exotic animals are not listed in any of the Schedules of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the Forest Department in all the States & Union Territories was not in a position to monitor the possession or sale of exotic live animals in the State.

To regulate the possession, breeding and trade in exotic live animals, the Government of India issued an advisory on 2nd July, 2020 to Chief Wildlife Wardens of all the States & Union Territories to register the individuals, Organization, Institutions, Resort owners etc. The Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change Government of India in the above advisory announced a voluntary disclosure of exotic live animals before the Chief Wildlife Warden for obtaining registration of the exotic live animals. Six months’ time was given for the voluntary disclosure which will end by 2nd December, 2020 for applying on live and final registration by 15th December 2020.

All those who are registering during this period will not be required to produce documents relating to imported live animals in their possession, after 15th December, 2020. All required documents has to submit.

It is informed that the registration of imported live animals is to be done online in the PARIVESH website of Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India, in the prescribed format.

Once the applications are uploaded, the Forest Department will verify the exotic live animals and issue registration of the stock of exotic live animals against the name and address of the applicant, as per eligibility, by 15th December, 2020.

The Telangana Forest Department requests all the persons and organizations having exotic live animals in their possession to register their application with the Chief Wildlife Warden, Telangana on PARIVESH site on or before 2nd of December, 2020, said R.
