Hyderabad, June 14: Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali has responded to the show cause notice issued by the AICC Disciplinary Committee and denied that the viral audio clip circulating on social media contains his voice.
Reacting to the controversy, Shabbir Ali said attempts were being made to damage his image and create divisions within the party.
Shabbir Ali says audio is fabricated
Shabbir Ali said he had already approached the police regarding the audio clip before the disciplinary committee sought an explanation from him.
He stated that the voice in the recording was not his and alleged that some individuals were trying to tarnish his reputation through false narratives.
The Congress leader also said he shares a long association with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and described him as being like a brother. According to Shabbir Ali, he has maintained close relations with him for nearly four decades and has never spoken against him.
He further clarified that he remains committed to the Congress party and would not take any action that harms the organisation.
The controversy began after an audio clip allegedly containing remarks about TPCC leadership and women leaders circulated widely on social media. Following the development, the AICC Disciplinary Committee issued a show cause notice and sought an explanation.
Party sources indicated that further action may be considered after reviewing the response submitted in the matter.
