Delhi/Hyderabad, June 11 (Maxim News): The Indian Air Force is set to get a boost as tensions with Pakistan escalate. The advanced Mk1-A variant of the light fighter aircraft Tejas will be inducted into the Air Force by the end of this month. A total of 83 aircraft will be delivered in phases. They have been upgraded with the latest Israeli AISA (Active Electromagnetically Scanned Array) radars. This is the most advanced radar system in the world.
As a result, the Jerusalem Post news agency revealed that the Tejas Mk1-A has capabilities that are comparable to the most advanced fighter jets of Western countries. These were supposed to be available last year, but were delayed due to delays in the supply of key spare parts, etc. It is known that the Center has decided to completely replace the aging MiG-21 and Jaguar fighter jets with Tejas. Currently, 40 first-generation Tejas fighter jets are in service. The Air Force currently has only 31 fighter squadrons. The goal is to increase them to at least 42 as soon as possible. Each squadron will have 16 to 20 fighter jets.
The special features of Tejas Mk1-A include a state-of-the-art AESA radar system, 3 installed in Tejas Mk1-A was developed by Elta Systems, a state-of-the-art Israeli aerospace industry company. The advanced electromechanical warfare system installed in Tejas was also supplied by Elta.
The state-of-the-art helmet-mounted display designed by Elbit Systems, an Israeli company, is very useful for pilots during conflicts.
The AESA system and everything else were manufactured in India with the participation of Israel as part of the Make in India project.
It is noteworthy that many of the technological features provided by Israel to the Tejas Mk1-A are not available in many of the country’s own fighter jets.
The radar-guided Derby missiles from the Rafale fighter jets will be installed on the Tejas Mk1-A. As a result, its combat capability will increase many times over.
The Jerusalem Post reported that future versions of Tejas will have more advanced canard wings, electromechanical systems, and better range.
The state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is working hard to further modernize the third version of Tejas.
In this context, Israeli, French, and American arms companies are competing for contracts to supply the advanced technological systems required for them. (Maxim News)
