Hyderabad, August 5 (Maxim News): Telangana Human Rights Commission (THRC) Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther visited Amrabad Mandal in Nagarkurnool district to review the implementation of welfare programmes and assess the protection of human rights in tribal areas.
The visit was undertaken in line with the objectives of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1995, which seeks to protect and promote human rights while evaluating the effective delivery of government welfare services to the people.
Dr. Justice Shameem Akther arrived at the Krishnaveni Guest House of TGGENCO at Srisailam on Tuesday evening, where senior district officials received him.
They briefed the Chairperson on the implementation of welfare programmes, tribal welfare initiatives, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development in the Amrabad region.
Among those present were District Tribal Development Officer R. Kotaji, ITDA Project Officer Yadagiri, Assistant Tribal Welfare Officer Nagaraju, Assistant Social Welfare Officer Venkata Krishna, Deputy Education Officer Ramesh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas, Circle Inspector Chandraiah, Tahsildar Venkateswar Reddy, Dam Superintendent Venugopal, Chief Engineer Adinarayana, and other officials.
As part of the field visit, the THRC Chairperson inspected the Government Upper Primary School, the Srisailam Dam, and Domalapenta village to assess the availability and quality of public services and infrastructure.
He later visited the Primary Health Centre at Vatavarlapally village, where he interacted with patients, doctors, and hospital staff. He reviewed the quality of healthcare services, availability of medicines, hospital infrastructure, and patient care facilities.
Dr. Justice Shameem Akther also toured the Mallapur Penta tribal area and held direct interactions with tribal residents to understand their living conditions and the challenges they face.
He reviewed issues related to education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, drinking water supply, implementation of welfare schemes, and other matters concerning the protection of human rights.
The Chairperson was accompanied by Forest Range Officer Savitha, District Tribal Development Officer R. Kotaji, Revenue Divisional Officer Yadagiri, Deputy Education Officer Ramesh, Tahsildar Venkateswar Reddy, and other officials during the inspections.
Addressing officials, Dr. Justice Shameem Akther stressed that all government departments must work in close coordination to safeguard the rights of tribal communities and improve service delivery.
He directed officials to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary without delay and called for the prompt redressal of public grievances. He also emphasized that protecting the rights of tribal communities and ensuring access to essential services remain key responsibilities of every department.
The Chairperson said the Commission would continue conducting field inspections across the state to monitor welfare implementation and ensure that the constitutional and human rights of vulnerable communities are effectively protected. (Maxim News)
