Hyderabad, October 5: TRS extending executive committee unanimously agreed to resolution introduced to rename Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at Telangana Bhavan here on Wednesday. TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) introduced the resolution in the meeting attended by council of ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and corporation chairpersons. Later, KCR signed the resolution. From now onwards, it is officially called as BRS.
Earlier in the day, KCR hosted breakfast to JDS and VCK leaders at Pragathi Bhavan here. According to reports, Rao wants to field candidates in 100 Lok Sabha seats in the ensuing general elections. Mostly, parliamentary constituencies falling in Gulbarga and Raichur districts in Karnataka, Nanded district and Bhiwandi city in Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Central Delhi.
In Munugode by-election, TRS candidate will contest on BRS to register first victory on new national party symbol. Immediate goal of KCR is to get 6% vote share for the BRS in upcoming general elections to get national party status.
