Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 12 (Maxim News): Ukrainian President Zelensky spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the phone on Monday. He explained the ongoing attacks by the Russian army on cities and villages in Ukraine. He said that Russia does not seem ready for a ceasefire. He appealed to Modi to take the initiative for peace between Ukraine and Russia.
Zelensky and Modi have decided to meet in person on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September this year.
Zelensky posted on ‘X’ after his conversation with Narendra Modi. he said that they discussed bilateral cooperation between India and Ukraine as well as progress in diplomatic relations. He said that he hopes for an end to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and peace to be established as soon as possible. He reiterated that India’s cooperation is necessary for that, Zelensky thanked Prime Minister Modi for standing by Ukraine in all ways.
On the other hand, the issue of America’s warnings to India not to buy oil from Russia also came up for discussion between Zelensky and Modi. Zelensky said that the Russian army is attacking them with the money Indiais paying. That is why he appealed to reduce oil purchase from Russia. Modi also responded with an ‘X’ He made it clear that his support for peace between Ukraine and Russia will always be there. He said that bilateral relations with Ukraine will be further strengthened. (Maxim News)
