WhatsApp Helps Reunite Missing Child With Father In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 26: A three and a half year old boy who went missing during Muharram celebrations was reunited with his father within an hour after Attapur police circulated his details through local WhatsApp groups.

According to Attapur police, a resident identified as Mubair Qureshi brought the child, Sheikh Ajaz, to the police station at around 3.30 pm on Friday after finding him near Keshawari Masjid.

Police personnel immediately initiated efforts to trace the family.

Head Constable Imtiaz and Assistant Sub Inspector Kumar photographed the child and shared the details across local police and community WhatsApp groups, including MM Pahadi, 9 Number, Chintalmet and Imad Nagar.

Around 4.30 pm, the boy’s father, Farooq, reached the police station after seeing the circulated photograph in a WhatsApp group.

Farooq, who works as an electrician, told police that he had taken his son to Niyaz Begum Masjid in MM Pahadi for prayers. During Namaz, the child was accidentally left behind and later went missing.

After verifying the father’s identity, police safely handed over the child.

Farooq thanked the police personnel for their quick response and timely coordination that helped reunite him with his son.
