World IP Day Commemorated By CII

Hyderabad, April 28 (Maxim News): A virtual interactive session was organized by CII Telangana Intellectual Property Facilitation Cell in partnership with GoTS to commemorate World Intellectual Property Day 2020 by discussing the Role of IPs for a Sustainable & Unprecedented World. The theme for this year was ‘Innovate for a Green Future’

Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industry & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT), Govt. of Telangana in his Inaugural address mentioned that the State Government of Telangana always has high regards and respect for Researchers, Innovators and IP Creators. And for that reason first of its kind Telangana State Intellectual Property Awards (TS-IPA) was launched. However, due to uncertainties in wake of Covid-19, this couldn’t be finalized as many would’ve missed the chance to apply. He urged industry to do not miss the opportunity of getting recognized and apply for the awards.

On the sustainability front, he added that Harita Haram campaign is one of the most innovative and futuristic initiative towards advancing sustainability in urban areas by offering green spaces.

He mooted the idea of forming a task force to promote and enforce IPRs in the state with CII and other stakeholders. In addition, he also announced to possibly launch a 15 Day IP Refresher course on IP orientation for Research Scholars/PhD Students on IPRs .

Speaking on the occasion, Dr H Purushotham, Chairman and MD, National Research Development Corporation said that start-ups and innovators working on innovative solutions to fight COVID 19 should apply for the NRDCs scheme which grants financial support of upto 10 lakhs.

Sashisdhara , Asst controller also stressed on the fact how IPO office was open online 24X7 for IP filings during the COVID crisis and there has been a great positive vide among Innovators and Businesses. The session also witnessed a Forbes Asia 30 under 30 start-up speaker Shriyans Bhandari who talked about his recycling company Greensole.

Subhajit Saha, Director CII urged that Industry and Academia can always approach the CII IP Facilitation Cell in partnership with Government of Telangana for any assistance or guidance on Intellectual Property Rights ( IPR) issues and protection. (Maxim News)
