Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar appealed to people from all sections to take part in the Road Safety Month Telangana celebrations. Officials said awareness drives, outreach programmes, and public interactions will form part of the month long campaign. Therefore, the department called upon local bodies, educational institutions, and community groups to extend full cooperation.
The minister also focused on the role of students in promoting road safety. He directed that every student should give an undertaking to their parents, assuring them that traffic rules will be followed. In addition, he said every school should form a road safety club to create early awareness among children. According to him, such steps will help build long term behavioural change.
Officials further reminded citizens to strictly follow Transport Department instructions during Road Safety Month Telangana. They urged people to wear helmets, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and never travel on the wrong route. They also warned against over speeding, which remains a key cause of fatal accidents.
Official statistics show that the majority of deaths in the state occur due to road accidents. Therefore, authorities believe that sustained awareness during Road Safety Month Telangana can help reduce casualties. The department stated that consistent public participation will decide the success of the initiative and help ensure safer roads for everyone.
