Hyderabad, May 16: Ali issued a public apology after a Ghar Soaps advertisement triggered criticism over alleged hurt to Hindu sentiments.
The controversy began after the commercial showed Ali performing a pooja for a soap product. Some viewers claimed the scene resembled prayers associated with Goddess Lakshmi.
Social media users also objected to a musical segment in the advertisement. They alleged it referenced devotional names linked to the 2012 Telugu film Devudu Chesina Manushulu.

As criticism intensified online, several users demanded removal of the advertisement. They described the use of devotional themes in a soap commercial as inappropriate.
Responding to the backlash, Ali released a video statement expressing regret. He clarified that the disputed scene was inspired by a brief sequence from Devudu Chesina Manushulu.
The actor said the Mumbai based company behind the commercial requested inclusion of the segment. He added that he immediately contacted the company after learning viewers found it offensive.
According to Ali, the advertisement has since been removed. He stated that there was no intention to disrespect any religion, deity, or community.
Ali is known for his long career in Telugu cinema. He has acted in more than 1,000 films over several decades.
Some of his popular films include Pokiri, Dookudu, Race Gurram and Attarintiki Daredi.
