BS Yeddyurappa took oath as Karnataka CM
Karnataka: Yeddyurappa took oath as Karnataka CM today after SC refused to stay the swearing-in after a rare three-and-a-half-hour midnight courtroom drama. The court has said it will hear their petition on Friday.
It is to mention here that Mr Yeddyurappa’s party, the BJP, was invited to form the government and given 15 days to prove majority by Governor Vajubhai Vala on Wednesday evening.
The BJP has 105 lawmakers, including an Independent, in the 224-seat assembly and is seven short of majority.
The Congress leaders, who along with their new alliance partners from the JDS met the governor yesterday to stake claim to form the government, are protesting outside the Karnataka assembly, alleging the move was “against the constitution”.
