Uttam Releases Written By Sonia To PM On Covid 19 Control
Hyderabad, April 14 (Maxim News): TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy released letter written by party president Sonia Gandhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on issue of corona virus. In her letter written to the PM on March 13, Sonia Gandhi told the PM that no one should face hunger in the collective fight of the country against covid 19 pandemic. She said that the current crisis has pushed many relatively food secure families into food insecurity and poverty. She alleged that the population that increase since 2011 had not been considered for sterninjng each state’s entitlement under National Food Security Act. She also said that Latha’s if vulnerable people across the country were facing chronic food insecurity due to the lockdown while terming it tragic given that India had Mangr buffer stocks of food grains precisely for exigencies like the current pandemic.
Welcoming the decision of the PM to provide 5 kgs of grains per person in addition to the other entitlements under the NFSA from April to June 2020, she said that given the adverse impact of the lockdown and its prolonged impact of people’s livelihoods, it would not be enough for them. She suggested the PM that the 10 kgs per person to all NFSA beneficiaries should be extended to three more months till September 2020 . She also suggested the PM to provide the grains and other entitlements free of cost to the beneficiaries. chronic economic distress faced by the beneficiaries. She demanded the PM to provide 10 kgs of grains per person free of cost for six months to all those who don’t have Ration cards.
