Delimitation | Hyderabad, April 14 (Maxim News): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday called for a sustained struggle against the BJP led Union Government over the delimitation of lok sabha constituencies. He demanded an increase in seats for southern states based on the pro rata principle.
Speaking at the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar in Hyderabad, he alleged that the Centre planned to reduce representation for southern states. He warned that such a move would harm regional balance and political fairness.
He said southern states must unite and fight to protect their rightful share in Parliament. Moreover, he accused the BJP of using population growth as a pretext to alter seat allocation. He claimed that this approach would lead to injustice for women, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in the region.

Revanth Reddy questioned whether Union Ministers were aware of the alleged plan to reduce seats in southern states. He stressed that the Centre must ensure fair representation for all regions. He added that any imbalance would weaken democratic principles.
The Chief Minister also highlighted his government’s focus on empowering marginalised communities. He said the present administration gave priority to SC welfare and inclusive governance. In contrast, he criticised the previous BRS government for ignoring such issues.

CM Revanth Reddy alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao failed to honour Ambedkar during his tenure. He also accused him of avoiding Assembly sessions and disrespecting democratic institutions.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy questioned why leaders opposed Dalits holding key ministerial positions. He said the current government ensured representation and dignity for all communities.
Revanth Reddy urged people to reject what he termed betrayal politics by the BRS. He alleged that certain leaders were trying to obstruct welfare measures aimed at weaker sections.
On the occasion, he remembered revolutionary singer Gaddar and poet Ande Sri for their role in the Telangana movement. He also recalled the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar to the nation.
The remarks come amid intensifying political debate over delimitation and representation, with leaders from different parties expressing divergent views.
