Jalagam Prasada Rao Joins TRS

Hyderabad, Nov.2 (Maxim News): The main Opposition Congress party, which was boasting of sweeping the December 7 Assembly elections, received a blow on Friday with its senior Congress leader and former minister Jalagam Prasada Rao deciding to resign from the Congress and join the ruling TRS.

Curiously, Jalagam took the decision to quit Congress on the day of withdrawal of his suspension from the party by AICC. He will formally join the TRS on Saturday in the presence of TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. It may be mentioned here that Jalagam was suspended from the Congress in 1999 for crossing the party’s line for of six years. He was aloof from active politics since then.

However, Jalagam recently decided to get back to active politics and play an important role in the party. But his efforts to play an active role in the party were scuttled by his rivals in the party. Consequently, Jalagam was contemplating to join the ruling TRS. Interestingly, his suspension was withdrawn by the party high command on Friday. AICC Disciplinary Committee chairman AK Antony informed the withdrawal of his suspension to TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on the same day. Rao hails from Khammam district. He worked as Panchayat Raj minister in the State earlier. (Maxim News)
