Hyderabad, April 16: Amir Hamza, a founding member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Lahore on April 16, 2026, according to reports.
The incident reportedly took place at a media office premises in the city. Earlier inputs had suggested he was critically injured and hospitalised. However, subsequent reports indicated that he succumbed to his injuries.
Hamza co-founded the group in 1985 along with Hafiz Saeed. He was considered a key ideological figure within the organisation.

Hamza, aged 66, was a former Afghan mujahideen. He was known for his writings and speeches linked to the group’s ideology. He also edited publications associated with the organisation.
He had authored several books, including Qafilah Dawat and Shahadat. In recent years, he had reportedly reduced his public activities.
Reports said he later formed another organisation to mobilise funds. These funds were allegedly linked to activities connected to the group.
Authorities have not yet identified the attackers. Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the shooting.
