Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News): Osmania University and the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden, have initiated discussions to establish a long term academic partnership aimed at strengthening international education, research, and innovation.
The two institutions held high level talks on Thursday to explore collaboration through a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The meeting, organised by the Office of International Affairs at Osmania University, focused on expanding global academic opportunities for students and faculty while promoting research and internationalisation.
The discussions took place under the leadership of Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram. Senior university officials, including Registrar Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, OSD Prof. S. Jithendra Kumar Naik, Director of International Affairs Prof. B. Vijaya, Joint Director Dr. A. Nageshwar, along with deans, principals, department heads, faculty members, and officials, attended the meeting.
The Swedish delegation included Dr. Vanja Lindberg, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Internationalisation, Prof. Martin Andersson, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Lars Lundberg, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Gurudutt Velpula, Senior Advisor for Internationalisation and Country Director for India, and Phani Shekar G., International Coordinator for India.
During the meeting, both universities discussed signing a comprehensive MoU to promote academic collaboration. Furthermore, they explored introducing integrated double degree master’s programmes, particularly in engineering and technology.
The institutions also discussed student exchange programmes to provide international exposure and cross cultural learning opportunities. In addition, they proposed faculty exchange initiatives to encourage collaborative teaching, joint supervision, and academic development.
Another major area of discussion focused on joint research projects addressing global challenges. Both universities also explored opportunities for collaborative publications, technology transfer, innovation, curriculum development, and externally funded international research projects.
Moreover, the two institutions discussed organising international conferences, seminars, workshops, and faculty development programmes. They also expressed interest in promoting interdisciplinary research and sharing best academic practices.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram said the proposed partnership aligns with Osmania University’s vision of expanding its global academic presence. He stated that international collaborations will provide students and faculty with greater opportunities in education, research, innovation, and academic mobility.
Meanwhile, the BTH delegation praised Osmania University’s academic legacy and expressed confidence that the proposed collaboration would strengthen higher education and research ties between India and Sweden. The delegation said the partnership could create new opportunities for innovation, knowledge exchange, and global academic excellence.
Both institutions agreed to continue discussions and finalise the proposed Memorandum of Understanding through mutual consultations. They also reaffirmed their commitment to building a long term partnership that will benefit students, researchers, and faculty members from both universities. (Maxim News)
