Sailesh Proddaturu is the new District Rotaract Representative

Hyderabad: Sailesh Proddaturu, a city-based third-generation entrepreneur who studied Business Management in Family Business which is into the Sewing Machine industry, was sworn in as the new District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for the year 2023-24 today. 

A function named Renaissance, District Assembly and Installation was held on Sunday in an Auditorium in Pullareddy College, Mehdipatnam. MVR Mohan, District Rotaract Chair administered oath office to Sailesh Proddaturu in the presence of Dr. Busireddy Shankar Reddy, District Governor, Rotary Dist 3150.

Sailesh succeeded Rohit AVV. 

Sailesh’s District Council was also administered oaths of their respective offices and installed.

The thought-provoking and well-curated theme for the year is “Change Makers”.

Rotaract is a youth wing of Rotary, where 18 and older exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through service. In communities worldwide. The DRR is the ELECTED leader of the Rotaract movement in Rotary Dist 3150.

Giving his acceptance speech to a 500-plus audience including his parents Proddaturu Veerabhadrudu and Sunitha, Sailesh Proddaturu said some of his ambitious projects during the year include recognizing the Unsung Champions.  Titled “Honoring the Hidden Heroes” (HHH), the district aims to acknowledge and appreciate the selfless contributions of lesser-acknowledged blue-collar workers, such as sanitation workers, school abayas, and various other individuals who play a crucial role in our society. Through various initiatives, we will shine a spotlight on these unsung champions, thanking them for their invaluable service and dedication.

Another ambitious project to be undertaken during the year is Rotaract Rise and Run Marathon (RRR): Promoting Health and Wellness for a Better Future and supporting charitable causes. A run will be organized with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of fitness while supporting charitable causes that align with Rotary’s focus areas.

Focus Areas for this Rotary Year, Sailesh said are 1. Promoting Peace. We at our District recognize the importance of fostering peace and understanding in our communities and beyond. Through various initiatives, we aim to promote dialogue, mediation, and conflict resolution to create a more peaceful and harmonious world.

2. Fighting Disease: We will continue to support healthcare initiatives, raise awareness, and provide resources to fight diseases such as polio, malaria, HIV/AIDS, and more.

Other ambitious initiatives the Rotaractors will undertake include Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Saving Mothers and Children; Supporting Education; Growing Local Economies; Protecting the Environment etc and other

“We are excited to embark on this journey of service and engagement,” said DRR Rtr. Sailesh Proddaturu. Through our HHH initiative, RRR (Triple R) marathon, and focused efforts in Rotary’s key areas, we aim to make a tangible difference and inspire others to join us in creating a better future.

Speaking on the occasion, he announced an incentive of Rs 10,000/- cash to those Rotaract Clubs which bring in service projects that are worth applying for the Rotary International Grant. 

As you all know we have a target to increase Rotaract membership across the globe to one million by 2029. To achieve this every Rotaract Club need to increase their strength by 20% every year 

Viiveck Verma, a corporate consultant was invited to deliver a keynote address which was centred around Rotary International President, Gordon McInally’s theme for the 2023-2024 Rotary Year – ‘Create Hope in the World’. The theme calls on Rotarians to inspire and restore hope through the projects they champion.

Speaking on the occasion, Viiveck Verma said, the world is alive, humanity is alive because of hope.  Hope is not about surviving, but it is about thriving. He gave examples from his personal life, when his wife got cancer, he fought it for 11 years, and he lived life with hope even though he didn’t know what would happen the next day. 

I have failed multiple times in life. Each time I failed it was hope that kept me going.  Life becomes liveable only when you have hope he told Retractors.
