- Congress leader warns MIM dividing Muslim votes to benefit BJP
- Shabbir campaigns for Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan in Kadwa constituency
Kadwa (Bihar), November 2: Senior Congress leader and Advisor to the Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday warned Bihar voters against vote-splitting politics that he said threatens secular unity. Addressing a public meeting in Chauki Panchayat of Kadwa constituency, he accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) of dividing Muslim votes in the state to weaken secular representation and indirectly help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Shabbir Ali was campaigning for Congress candidate Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan. He told the gathering that MIM’s entry into minority-dominated constituencies was damaging Muslim political strength. According to him, voters must see that “each vote cast for MIM effectively benefits the BJP.” He warned that the party’s strategy undermines secular voices in the Assembly. “The kite symbol does not fly toward secularism – it lands straight in the BJP’s box,” he said.
He praised Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan as an educated and visionary leader capable of bringing meaningful change. “Shakeel Sahab is not just the Congress Legislative Party leader of Bihar; he is a national-level figure who represents hope for development, education, and secular harmony,” Shabbir Ali remarked. He urged voters to strengthen leaders who defend secular values rather than those who “divide the secular vote.”
Shabbir Ali criticised MIM’s alleged selective contesting pattern. He questioned why the party chooses to contest aggressively in Bihar while avoiding direct fights with BJP candidates in Telangana. “For 54 years, the same party that could not cross the Musi River in Hyderabad suddenly wants to fight 100 seats in Bihar. Why not contest against BJP’s Raja Singh in Hyderabad? Why choose only Muslim pockets elsewhere?” he asked.
He said that MIM’s tactics expose its “real agenda—to disrupt the consolidation of Muslim support behind Congress and its allies.” He added, “This is not leadership; it is manipulation. Every time MIM appears in an election, BJP gains ground.” Shabbir emphasised that the Congress-RJD alliance represents real secular unity and should be strengthened to counter communal politics. “Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav have consistently stood with Muslims on issues like NRC, triple talaq, and minority rights,” he said.
The Congress leader also promised support from Telangana’s Congress government for development initiatives in Bihar. He said Telangana would explore educational and industrial collaborations to uplift backward districts if Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan is elected. “We can connect resources – colleges, industries, and technical institutes – to ensure progress reaches even remote panchayats,” he said.
Appealing for national harmony, Shabbir added, “This country belongs to both Hindus and Muslims. Our fight is to protect secular India, not divide it. Vote for the hand symbol and for leaders who can truly represent you.” The meeting ended amid slogans backing Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan and the Mahagathbandhan, as Shabbir predicted victory for the RJD-Congress alliance under Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar.
