Mumbai/Hyderabad, July 9 (Maxim News): An interesting development has taken place in Maharashtra politics. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met. The two leaders met at the Deputy CM’s office in the Assembly. A cabinet meeting was held in the Assembly building today (Thursday) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute. Eknath Shinde attended this meeting. At the same time, Sharad Pawar along with his party MLAs went to Shinde’s office in the Assembly. When it was learned that Pawar was waiting in his office, Shinde ended the cabinet meeting midway and went there.
Shinde welcomed Pawar with a bouquet and discussed key issues with him for about 15 minutes. After that, Shinde left. However, what was discussed in this meeting was not revealed. Shinde’s office also called it a courtesy call. However, even after the Deputy CM left, Pawar met with his party MLAs in the same office. This development has become a political topic of discussion. Recently, six MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) joined Shinde’s faction. This development has already caused upheaval in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Meanwhile, the meeting has further fueled speculation that a faction within Sharad Pawar’s party is interested in joining the NDA. With this, Maharashtra politics has heated up. NCP(SP) ally Shiv Sena (UBT) has strongly criticized the meeting. UBT leader Sanjay Raut questioned why Pawar visited Shinde’s office. “What is the need to meet Shinde at his office? Is there no other place in the Assembly for Pawar to meet his party leaders?” Raut asked. He said that this move will damage the credibility of NCP(SP) and Sharad Pawar.
“Sharad Pawar is undoubtedly a great leader. A highly respected person. However, holding a party meeting in the presence of a traitor who toppled our government will tarnish his image,” Raut commented. The UBT leader, who had called Shinde a traitor, said that Pawar’s meeting with him had put all his allies in an awkward situation. On this occasion, Sanjay Raut called on all MVA allies to stay away from Eknath Shinde. (Maxim News)
