South Central Railway Runs 11 Special Trains For Sankranti Rush

Hyderabad, Dec. 30: South Central Railway announced 11 special trains amid heavy passenger rush for Sankranti festivities.

These trains operate between Kakinada Town, Vikarabad, Parvatipuram, and Secunderabad from January 7 to 12, 2026. Officials expect massive crowds as families head to villages.

Some trains depart in the evening or night. They reach destinations the next day. AC, sleeper, and general coaches feature in these services.

Special Trains Boost Connectivity

Ticket booking for select trains began at 8 a.m. today. Railway officials stated these specials greatly aid Sankranti travelers. They urged passengers to check schedules before booking.

South Central Railway often runs such specials during peak festivals. Sankranti, marking the harvest season, draws lakhs to native places annually.

This year, demand surged due to extended holidays. The zone covers Telangana and Andhra Pradesh key routes. Past festivals saw similar 10-15% traffic spikes. Travelers benefit from added capacity. Bookings occur via IRCTC app or counters. Delays remain unlikely with planned timings.
